Growth, water relations and productivity of Nonpareil and Merced almond cultivars grafted on wild peach and bitteralmond rootstocks under rainfed and irrigated (−0.5 bar) conditionswas studied. Higher annual shoot growth, leaf area, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, green almond yield and superior quality characters including fruit and kernel weight, and kernel fat contents were recorded in Nonpareil cultivar than in Merced. All these parameters were higher in the plants on wild peach rootstock except weight of kernel was better on bitter almond rootstock. Stomatal conductance was not influenced by rootstock used. Irrigated plants recorded the higher values for all the parameters studied.
