STUDY OF HERITABILITY AND GENETIC ADVANCE FOR YIELD COMPONENTS AND OIL CONTENT IN DIALLEL CROSS OF LINSEED (LINUM USITATISSIMUM L.)
1Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding,
Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur - 208 002, India
ABSTRACT
The investigation was undertaken in 6 × 6 diailel crosses (excluding reciprocals) of linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) with a view to asses the heritability and genetic advance in respect to yield components and oil content. High heritability coupled with moderate genetic advance in per cent of mean was recorded for seed yield per plant, number of capsules per plant and number of primary branches per plant offered scope for improvement through selection. Moderate or high heritability alongwith low genetic advance in per cent of mean was observed for remaining characters indicated selection is not much effected for these traits.
