EFFECT OF DIFFERENT CHEMICALS ON THE IMPROVEMENT OF FRUIT SET IN SOFT PEAR Cv. PUNJAB BEAUTY
1Department of Horticulture,
Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana - 141 004, India
ABSTRACT
The experiment was conducted to improve fruit set and quality in pear cv. Punjab Beauty using GA3, sucrose and jaggery sprays. Highest fruit set (7.88%) was recorded with GA3 20 ppm spray at full-bloom stage. In control, fruit set was only 3.64 per cent. Treatments given at full-bloom stage were better than full-bloom plus petal fall stages (double spray). Highest yield (45.58 kg/tree) was obtained with GAs 20 ppm spray given at full bloom stage followed by sucrose and jaggery sprays. TSS (%) of juice was also highest (15.45) with GA3 20 ppm spray at full bloom stage followed by sucrose 10 per cent and Jaggery 10 per cent. GA3 20ppm or sucrose 10 per cent or jaggery 10 per cent should be sprayed at full-bloom stage to get more yield per plant
