Determination of pattern of variability was earned out in salt and drought tolerant strains of wheat. The study revealed that the pattern of variability closely resembled for the same character in all the strains suggesting that short-stemmed strains can be used in hybridization. The degree of environmental variability was statistically significant for the same character within the range of strains involved. Of all the characters studied, only the number of effective tillers per plant was characterized by very high coefficient of variation
