A study was undertaken to determine the genotypic and phenotypic variation in 50 genotypes. The wide range of variability was observed in all the nine characters except for number of branches plant-1. Higher heritability coupled with genetic advance as percentage of mean was noticed in seed yield plant-1, number of capsules plant-1, seeds capsules-1 and 1000 seed weight indicating the presence of additive gene action and direct selection may be effective. The seed yield was positively and significantly correlated with all traits except 1000 seed weight and oil percent.
