The bajra {Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.} hybrid GHB 558 is a cross combination of ICMA 94555 × J 2290. The female parent (ICMA 94555) flowers 8 to 10 days earlier than male parent (J 2290). The period of staggered sowing in hybrid seed production programme can be reduced amicably by the spray of either 2% urea or 2% DAP to the late flowering parent to meet synchrony and facilitate the simultaneous cultural operations which otherwise are difficult under a longer period of staggered sowing.
