The tribal people are undoubtedly the storehouse of accumulated experiences and knowledge of vast flora and fauna. A knowledge test has been defined by Bloom et al. (1958) as a test which refers to that behaviour and test situation which emphasizes the remembering by the recall of ideas, materials or phenomena. The knowledge of dairy innovations in the present study has been operationalized as the extent to which the recommendations pertaining to dairy informations, namely, breeding, feeding, health care, management and overall dairy farming practices are known to the dairy farmers. The present study was carried out in Nilgiris District of Tamilnadu. A total sample of 306 tribal households for the six tribes namely; Todas, Kotas, Kurumbas, Irulas, Paniyas and Kattunaickas was studied.
