Effect of hydration and thiram treated seeds in desi and kabuli varieties of chickpea was observed for field emergence, harvest index, seed multiplication ratio and economic yield. The field emergence was improved to a level of 17.7% due to thiram seed treatment Harvest index in both desi and kabuli types was similar (33 to 34%), maximum observed in small desi (40.3%) and minimum in large kabuli types (25%). Seed multiplication ratio too was maximum in small types (34 – 36 times) and minimum in large seed types (8 – 19 times). Large seeded kabuli types had negative association on field emergence, harvest index and seed multiplication ratio. Strong association of field emergence with biological and economic yield, harvest index and seed multiplication ratio was also observed.
