The aim of this study is to determine the effects of the therapeutic dose radiation application on the periodontal tissues of rats and to examine the protective effects of antioxidant application against free radicals prior to radiotherapy. 40 Wistar albino rats were divided into groups of ten animals each: radiotheraphy group; 20 days ENOANT® group; 1 day ENOANT® group, and control group. Then, 3 Gray (Gy) therapeutic dose radiation were applied to head and neck area of the rats outside the control group. After the application, Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in serum and periodontal tissues were  measured by Thiobarbituric acid (TBA) method in the radiotherapy group, long and short term ENOANT® used groups and the control group. The obtained values were statistically compared, the statistical analysis of obtained results showed that according to tissue MDA level, a significant degree of decrease was found in long term ENOANT® used group compared to the radiotherapy group (p<0,05). According to these the long-term use of ENOANT® is more effective than its short-term use.
