GENETIC AND NON-GENETIC FACTORS AFFECTING REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF BEETAL, BLACK BENGAL AND THEIR RECIPROCAL CROSSES
1Department of Animal Breeding
CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar-125004, India
ABSTRACT
Present study was envisaged to examine the effect of genetic and non-genetic factors in Beetal, Black Bengal and their reciprocal crosses. Analysis of variance revealed significant effect of genetic group and year on age at first service and kidding whereas significant genetic group effect was observed in case of litter size and weight at birth and weaning both. Season affected significantly only litter size at birth. Beetal genetic group surpassed all other groups in case of age at first service and kidding whereas these estimates were minimum in case of Black Bengal half breds. The estimates for litter size at birth and weaning were higher in case of Black Bengal inheritance whereas Beetal sired groups excelled over other genetic group in case of litter weight at birth and wearing which showed that Black Bengal goats drop higher number of kids whereas Beetal has better mothering ability.
