SSCP polymorphism was detected of ovine PRNP coding region exon-3 in 52 blood samples from Malpura sheep breed (Ovis aries) of semi-arid region of India. Three PCR-SSCP amplicons with different nucleotide base pairs were screened. In primer set I covering 19-373 nucleotide showed 6 types of haplotype, primer set 2 covering nucleotide region from 354-711 showed 9 types of haplotype (A-I) and primer set 3 nucleotide region from 692-1001 showed 9 types of haplotypes. The data will help for the detection of SNP markers related to disease resistance or susceptibility in India.
