A study was conducted to identify the predominant arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and its spore population in the rhizosphere soils of selected non-solanaceous and solanaceous crops from Vellanikkara area of Trichur district of Kerala. Catharanthus roseus recorded maximum number of AMF spores as compared to  maize and Glomus spp. were  most predominant in the rhizosphere.  The studies indicated that Catharanthus roseus can also be used as a host for mass multiplication of Glomus spp.
