Cite article:- Jawaharlal J., Reddy Lakshmikantha G., Kumar Sai S. (2024). CHARACTER ASSOCIATION BETWEEN YIELD AND YIELD ATTRIBUTING TRAITS IN MAIZE (ZEA MAYS L.)*. Agricultural Science Digest. 31(3): 232 - 234. doi: .
Correlation studies in maize revealed that genotypic correlation coefficients were higher than phenotypic correlation coefficients for most of the characters under study. Character association studies in maize revealed that grain yield per plant was  significantly and positively associated with plant height, ear height, ear girth, number of seed rows per ear, number of seeds per row, number of seeds per ear and 100-seed weight.  The characters days to 50% tasselling and days to 50% silking exhibited significant negative genotypic correlation with grain yield. Number of seeds per ear exhibited highest positive correlation with grain yield followed by plant height, number of seeds per row, ear height, 100 seed weight, ear girth, and number of seed rows per ear.
