Twenty one ~erican cotton hybrids, derived through 7 x 7 haU diallel,alongwlth
their seven parents and two standard hybrids were evaluated to estimate the magnitude of
heterosis for seed cotton yield and other components over mid parent, standard variety (pKV
Rajat) and standard hybrid (p!V Hy. 2). Heterosis was highet for seed cotton yield per plant
followed by number of boilS 'per plant, number of sympodia per plant and seed index. The
crosses DHY 286 x LRA 5166 and 'PH 93 x DHY 286 shall be considered for exploitation of
hybrid vigour.
