A field experiment for successive three years during rabi season of 1997–98, 1998–99, 1999–2000 were conducted to study the response of lsabgol (Plantago ovata Forsk) to nitrogen and phosphorus. The treatments comprised of four levels of nitrogen (viz., 0, 25, 50 and 75 kg N ha −1) and three levels of phosphorus (viz. 0,15 and 30 kg P 2O 5 ha −1) tried in FRBD with three replications. The highest seed yield of Isabgol with monetary returns was obtained with the application of 50 kg N and 30 kg P 2O 5 per hectare.
