A field investigation was carried out during the rabi season of 2007 and 2008 with eight treatment levels of irrigation in 3 randomized block design and replicated thrice. All the growth and yield attributes viz. number of leaves plant-1 number of primary and secondary branches and number of seeds plant-1 was recorded at harvest highest under three irrigation applied at branching, at flowering and at siliqua development stage followed by IB + F and IB + SD treatments and lowest in treatment I0 (control), significantly inferior from all the irrigation treatments. Significantly higher seed, stover and biological yields were recorded under 3  level of  irrigation IB + F + SD over IF + SD, IB, IF, ISD and Io treatments. The highest net return (Rs.23840 ha-1) was obtained with the application of three irrigations and proved superior by 10.67, 23.90, 37.80, 46.25, 95.40 and 170 per cent over IB + SD, IF + SD, IB, IF, ISD and Io treatments respectively. The highest B: C ratio (1.27) was obtained under IB + F + SD treatment which was significantly superior over IF + SD, IB, IF, ISD and Io treatments.
