Abstract

Animal breeding data comprising various economic traits are subjected to various
environmental fluctuations. Therefore, breeding data have to be adjusted for various nongenetic
factors to get accurate estimate of genetic parameters of populations. Time series
analysis takes into account trends, periodical and seasonal components to adjust the data.
The seasonal/monthly indices formulated from time series analysis could be used for adjusting
the breeding data for non-genetic factors so as to get accurate and efficient results.
