1Central Soil and Water ConselVation Research and Training In~itute,
Research center, Chandigarh - 160019, India
ABSTRACT
In this paper, the work on “Rainwater Management for Sustainable Crop Production in Dry land Areas” carried out, by different researchers has been reviewed. The technology of rainwater harvesting and recycling is capable of sustaining dry land crop production. This is supplemented with the best agronomic practices including selection of short duration and drought resistant varieties, effective soil and water conservatioin measures, establishment of crops under ridge and furrow system and digging farm ponds for providing life saving irrigations.
